"The Game of Death." Why obey?

A French documentary (subtitled in English) explaining teleconcurso as a culture of death and torture, following the Milgram experiment, according to which any individual could violate a pain to another, if authority ordered it considers legitimate. Decades later, Milgram pattern provides us with new findings: we have become more obedient. It explains the "state agent", "types of exhortation" or "safety valves" through 80 cases.

For this experience were recruited 80 volunteers who had never participated in a TV contest, which they believed they were going to participate in a pilot program called entertainment "Xtreme Zone", in which a participant will undergo a round of questions and receive a "punishment" for every wrong answer.

The result was surprising: while one of the contestants, who actually was an actor, simulated cries of pain to stop torture, eight out of ten participants met until the final order of the host downloads coming to power 20 to 460 volts.

"People never have obeyed our instructions if you do not trust who asked him. I think they thought 'television knows his stuff' ",

The film caused controversy at the hearing and opened several discussions on how television affects people and their consequences.

The experiment is based on the work of psychologist Stanley Milgram, who discovered that much of the common people accept hazardous administer electric shocks to other people, if you ordered a scientist appearance of authority on the subject.
