Two important milestones in quantum mechanics


The first: An experiment conducted by British scientists has mapped two entangled photons, one with an orbital angular moment clockwise and the other counterclockwise, testing the quantum predictions violate the inequality and Leggett, a result confirmed earlier Groblach Simon (University of Vienna) through the polarization of photons.

This demonstrates once again that "entangled particles" absolutely can not be described as individual entities, even if there is a telepathic connection (instantaneous communication) between them.

Second: An experiment released by the prestigious journal Nature in March 2010, which involved the construction of a mechanical device that operates in the quantum domain.

This device has been built by physicists Andrew Cleland and John Martins of the University of California at Santa Barbara (USA). In it, a tiny metal object shaped like a shovel semidonductor or remote (visible the human eye) moved to a "quantum beat."

The object could be placed in a superposition of two states (one fixed and one mobile-jack Schrödinger), which was believed could only be obtained with particulate matter and not to a large community (gross) of them.

theoretical level is important, it allows to observe quantum phenomena in the motion of an object made or built by man. And on a practical level, opening a range of possibilities ranging from experiments that combine electricity, control of light and movement, even the possibility of conducting of tests that can determine the limits of quantum mechanics and our sense of reality.
